Hello All,
I'm Graziella Baratta, Ms. New York United States 2008. Welcome to my official Blogcast for my year of reign as Ms. New York! Here I will post information on appearances, my latest news, and my personal thoughts as I prepare for the Ms. United States 2008 Pageant in Las Vegas this July.
I am so excited to share all of my news with you, so let me begin by saying that I am truly humbled and thrilled to be Ms. New York US! This is such an honor that I intend to take full advantage of, and be open to every experience that comes my way...I am a fan of the idea that "the journey is more important than the destination." I believe that each of us should live life for every moment that it offers, regardless of what that may be because there are valuable lessons to be learned in every situation.
Earlier this month, I had a speaking engagement with the New York Youth Council at their "What's Really Cool?" Conference, where I talked about good decision making. I had an attentive audience of over 90 teenage girls, along with administrators and other adults who listened to me tell my story of how I faced the same challenges that teens do today. It was quite humbling to speak to a silenced teenage audience about my life growing up, but I think I also rediscovered something at the same time: The Power of the Crown.
I forgot how powerful "the crown" can be! And yes, I love the sparkling crystals, like many women do, but I am talking about the kind of positive influence that a titleholder can have on people. The title of Ms. New York gives me the ability to make a bigger difference in my community because it naturally attracts attention. I hope to one day attract that same attention with just my name: Graziella Baratta!....but for now, Ms. New York will have to do!
I look forward to having that kind of positive influence on many, many more people during my reign and for years to come.Next week, I will announce my official platform (s) as Ms. New York US.
